Friday

We celebrated our paw party today by having a long lunch bunch. We also voted on our October Student of the Month.  I think it's important that the students recognize their peers for positive actions and we try to choose someone different each month.

No homework tonight unless your child has not finished writing their 2nd draft. If so, then they need to finish it over the weekend. *There's only a few people.  It's getting colder outside and we will try to go out as often as we can for recess. Please remind your child to dress in warm clothes and bring a jacket to school.
Have a great weekend!

If you have a board game at home that most students would be familiar with, please feel free to send it with your child on Friday. These centers will only last about 30 minutes so please nothing too long. :)

Science: We reviewed for our science test. We will review again in the morning and take our test tomorrow. The students did really well on the review today. Don't forget the information meeting tomorrow at 6 in the cafeteria about the science fair.

Left Ms. Matlock returned Mrs. Stith

First and foremost, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding while I was away. I had a wonderful time on my honeymoon in Hawaii and am trying to get back in the swing of things this week. Mrs. Basham left a great report said that the class was wonderfully behaved and continued to work hard. :)

We had lots of kids that did not have their planners signed today and had to move clips. (Remember that the first one is a warning and so not much of a consequence.) Please put a star next to your signature in your child's planner tonight if you are reading my blog. I am trying to make sure that information is reaching all of my parents. :)

HW:
Math: Division problems to finish from class. We did two in class and so your child should have the first 2 completed as a guide.
Reading: New spelling words this week. *I understand that some of these may be easy for your child but some are tricky and are words that I am seeing misspelled in class work. We will have a test on Thursday. Homework is to pick 5 and use in a sentence tonight.
Writing: no hw
Science: no hw

Upcoming events:
On Wednesday, there will be a parent meeting about the Science Fair from 6-6:30 in the cafeteria. This is not mandatory but will have lots of information. :) A packet will go home in your child's Wednesday Folder this week so be on the look out for it.

We will have a social studies test on Friday and a review will go home this week to study.

Thanks so much!
~Mrs. Stith

Wednesday :)

Math: I was impressed that the class could remember multiplication by 2 digit numbers when we have struggled so much with 1 digits. Homework is 8 problems that they copied from the board.

Writing: No homework

Science: No homework: Ask your child about our Oh Deer activity this morning and what the needs of the deer were.

Tomorrow:
*Reading logs are due! Your child will receive another one tomorrow and it will be due in November.
*Creepy Crawling Science program is tomorrow. Please return the sheet with your child with the $1.
*We will also have guidance in the morning with Mrs. Moses.

** On a different note, I will not be at school on Friday or next week. I am getting married on Saturday! ( I am becoming Mrs. Stith) :) Our substitute will be Morgan Basham and she is a certified elementary teacher. She has subbed for me in the past and I know that the class will be in good hands. If you have any questions or problems please email me and I will respond when I return from my honeymoon. If it is an emergency, you can call the school at 859-381-3388.

Have a wonderful fall break!

Tuesday!

Wednesday folders will go home tomorrow.

Math: We worked on our multiplication facts and made posters showing that  3x2 was 3 groups of 2.  Homework is to study the 2's and 5's multiplications facts. We will have a short quiz over them tomorrow. We are starting with the easy ones first and working our way into the harder ones.

Reading: We worked on thinking from someone else's perspective and describing their character traits. Homophone quiz tomorrow.

Science: no homework

Writing: Started writing the introductions to our personal narratives and worked on putting our thoughts into a sequential order.  The only homework to finish the personal narrative order sheet if they didn't finish it in class.

Our morning work was a review over verbs. Several kiddos had forgotten what they were. Ask you child if they can give you an example of a verb. (Ex: run, jump, speak....)
