Monday

Sorry for the late post folks, I had a PD after school and rushed out.

Reading: No spelling words this week since it's a short week. We started our reading groups today and began reading our books. Most groups were able to finish chapter 1. Ask your child what book they are reading.

Math: We went over the test that we took last week and corrected either the multiplication or ORQ depending on which score was lower. The tests will be coming home on Wednesday, after I re score them.

Writing: We are writing our final copy of our personal narratives, after correcting capitalization and spelling errors. We will be taking a break from writing pieces and go back to reviewing some of the basics of writing.

Science: We looked at the fossils we made last week and I hope to get pictures up soon of them. Some worked really well and some not so much but we had fun and learned more about fossils, so I say overall success.

Please return the form for the parent/teacher conferences stapled in your child's planner ASAP. If the times do not work for you please let me know and we can work something out. The sooner you send it back the more likely you will have your first choice for times. Thanks!

Friday

No homework today! Have a great weekend. It's supposed to be beautiful and UK is playing at home! (GO CATS)

We had the awards ceremony today and I am so proud of our kiddos that received an award. I truly hope that next time I can call up every child in my class! :)

The sign up for conferences never made it to the planners today so it will go home on Monday!
Remember: No school on Tuesday! Get out and VOTE!!!

Thursday

Science: We wrote imaginary letters today describing what we have learned about fossils. The students were supposed to use 4 vocabulary words in their letter. If they didn't get finished in class, they should finish for homework.

Reading: We compared a poem and article about the Venus fly trap and illustrated what we though it would look like.  No homework!

Math: Several students hadn't finished the test from yesterday so they went to Mrs. Brady's  room (Mrs. Burton's room) and finished while those that were finished did a review in our room.

Writing: We worked on editing our personal narrative focusing on capitalization and spelling. I had 2 minute conferences with students to help look for these errors. I will finish the rest of the class tomorrow and I hope to finish these next week.

**Intermediate Awards tomorrow 12:30-12:50. Also be on the look out tomorrow for a list to sign up for parent/teacher conferences starting next week. It will be stapled in your child's planner. :)

Wednesday

Science: I had planned on our class making trace fossils today during class, however, as science sometimes goes, it didn't work. My "mud" was too wet and the imprints never took. So we will be trying that again on Friday. :)
Reading: We have a spelling test tomorrow. We are also discussing the parts of a poem this week.
Math: We took our math test today and some still need to finish it tomorrow. I hope to have most of them graded tonight so we can go over them tomorrow. We will start lines and graphs (chapter 4) next week.
Writing: We are editing our personal narratives today checking specifically for capitalization errors.

Tuesday

Sorry for the late post folks, we had a faculty meeting after school.
No reading or math homework tonight. We will have MATH test tomorrow over multiplication and division. Also, there will be an awards ceremony on Friday at 12:30 for intermediate. This is for citizenship and honor roll. :)

We will be making our own fossils tomorrow and I hope to get pictures loaded on here so you can take a look at them. :)

In reading today we created poems using the ABCB rhythm. ex: roses are red, violets are blue, ...... Ask your child about their poem. I'll be sending them home tomorrow. Some were really good!

Have a great night!
